The Human Scale (Andreas M. Dalsgaard)
projection / Mobility Week
Tuesday 23. 9. 2014, 5.00pm a 8.00pm

Ľudský rozmerIs it possible to create life inbetween buildings? Human Scale is a documentary sci-fi from the future that has already taken place - it documentates five inconsistent but perfect projects by Jan Gehl. With him, we follow whether the cities are machines for housing or rather good places to live? They are modern, wonderful and mindblowing. However the citizens face resource crisis, climate change, loneliness and severe health issues. The cities are controlled by statistics, cadastres, rational calculations of traffic nodes and effort for maximal efficiency. What happens if we place a human with his needs into the middle of our calculations? Architect - visioner Jan Gehl and his colleagues try to liberate the cities from the domination of cars and create space for pedestrians and cyclist. They want to plan the cities as places of congregation and neighbourhood. They want to “reclaim the public space”.
