I´m Christin from Potsdam and I will take part in your project as a volunteer from May on for a year. I`ve studied Philosophy and Cultural Studies in Berlin and at present I´m writing my Bachelor thesis about the Stoic theory of cognitive impressions. When I´m not concerned with thoughts people had 2000 years ago, I´m interested in questions of the social and cultural memory, especially about the role of myths for community foundations and the narrative and figurative means to cope with (historical) events as well as in the characteristics of such different media as language, music and images, their functions and possibilities. Apart from this I play the oboe, for myself and in several orchestras, and I like to hear music, all above classical, but other styles too.
As I want to get my head in the clouds at least a little bit down to earth again and to get to know other people and places, I decided to spend a year as a volunteer. In doing so I also hope to deal with the topics mentioned above in some way, but initally I´m actually looking forward to garden mould, paperwork, the placing of chairs and other tasks of the organisation of events. As I´m a bit scatterbrained and not too firm with Slovak language, it will be challenge enough :)
