Managing director of film portal Kinema.sk Peter Konečný returns to Stanica with another one of his interactive lectures and projections.

Can “going to the cinema” be harmful? The evening talk will be about banned films, and the danger of audiovisual material in form of negative, mostly psychological effects on individual and society caused by its uncontrolled consumption. “Harmful” elements, such as pornography, vulgarity, violence and brutal killing, could be seen on cinema screens already in early 20th century, though in different forms. It was then that cinematography became part of public debate and the subject matter of pedagogical and scientific circles. Talking about effects of cinematography, views on its negative influence are being confronted. Is it really so that films “make us corrupted”, and that it is necessary to regulate its outreach?
