Detective Teddy Daniels and his colleague Chuck Aule come to investigate the escape of insane killer Rachel Solando to acursed island Shutter. She escaped from her prison cell in psychiatric hospital Ashecliffe and she is hiding succesfully somewhere. The year is 1954 and America still suffers from the aftermaths of WW2 and lives in paranoia of invented as well as real communist threat.
