LeviatanLeviatan is presented in Bible as a terrifying sea monster. Satanism presents this creature as the third of four hell elements – the unity of order and chaos, matter and anti matter, jin and jang. Thomas Hobbes identifies this creature with a governmental structure in his book Leviathan. This governmental structure - absolutistic power assures the piece and protection to its citizens. Russian director Andrej Zvjagintsev provides insight into a futile fight of individual against the authorities in his movie inspired by Hobbes book.

Kolia lives in a small town near Barents sea in the north of Russia. He works in a car repair shop next to his house. But the mayor of neighboring town Vadim Shelevjat wants to get him rid of his house, land and job. Kolia is refusing to give up the fight. Film received a Golden Palm for the best screenplay at IFF Cannes 2014.
