Gianfranco Rosi, who chose Ital Calvin’s book ”Invisible Cities” for his film story, decided to illustrate Roma in exceptional way - through the highway. He brings authentic stories and destiny of ordinary people living in the border of the biggest Italian traffic arteria, Grande Raccordo Anulare (GRA), which is 70 kilometres long circle highway of Rome. The camera captures real life along the highway without any embellishment and stylistic interference. It presents wide diversity of households, professions, personalities, social layers and natural rhytm of daily life on the highway. The director avoids deeper analysis and discovers invisible worlds, poetic, cruelty and contradictions of nowadays Italy and world society.

Sacro GRA is the first documentary movie, which won a prize Golden lion at MFF in Venice in main category.
