Visually, acoustically an sensually lush comedy drama is not only about searching for a meaning of one’s existence, but also about an attack on spectators senses. The story about the writer and the journalist Jep getting old and conciliating with ravages of time and his body getting older, Sorrentino places into an environment of “glittering” high class captivating Roma. He takes a pleasure in shallowness, sham and blindness. Duality of life and art and searching for the real beauty are the key subjects of this film, which this year won the best foreign language film Oscar.
