The New Synagogue Visitor Center
The reconstruction of the first few square meters of the new synagogue is drawing to a close, and that calls for a little ceremony on April 28th at 5 p.m.! The main stairway, a small annex which served as a transformer, video shop and copier, will be converted to a donor support and information center with aid from the EU grant. The first functional room which is currently an office is where we are moving the archive for historical research and restoration of the synagogue. This will be a place where you can stop at any time to learn more about our project and the building’s history, or borrow a helmet and look at the ongoing reconstruction in the main building. This will also serve as a space for exhibitions of contemporary art, arranged by the gallery Plusmínusnula.
This idea was created thanks to the cooperation with the Brno City Museum and Villa Tugendhat. The visitor center is being realized in the framework of the multinational micro-project “Czech- Slovak tandem visitor-centers of interwar architecture monuments of European significance in Zilina and Brno and their contribution to the development of cross-border tourism.” The project is co-financed by the European Union through the European Regional Development Fund in the CBC Programme Slovak Republic-Czech Republic 2007-2013.
