Lukáš OravecA few weeks ago, Lukas Oravec released his debut album “Introducing Lukas Oravec Quartet feat. Radovan Tariška” and baptized him right at this concert. The Quartet was established early in 2012 and immediately gained a following of jazz enthusiasts. The band plays club gigs and makes festival appearances throughout Europe.

The Quartet won the grand prize in “Young Faces of Slovak Jazz” and “cost of the interpretive power” quartet leader. In 2013, they released their debut album titled “Introducing the Lukas Oravec Quartet,” which was nominated for ESPRIT 2013 Slovak best album of the year. Lukas Oravec, with employs a unique style of improvisation along the lines of the great jazz trumpeters Freddie Hubbard, Tom Harrell and Woody Shaw .

The quartet performers include several renowned artists. Pianist Lubos Sramek, also a composer, arranged and lead the project “East European Artsamble.” Percussion is covered by the sixteen-year-old David Hodek, a miraculous talent who has played since the age of three. Since the beginning of his career he has been involved in a series of collaborations with top musical talents in Europe and America. He has received numerous international awards and has recorded several albums as a leader or sideman. The Quartet also includes Czech bassist Tomas Baros, one of the youngest bassists on the jazz music scene. Tomas Baros is a member of the best jazz groups at home and abroad. All members of the LO Quartet are also members of Czech radio Gustav Brom Big Band .

The album “Introducing the Lukas Oravec Quartet feat. Radovan Tariška” is based on the support of the Music Fund of the Slovak Republic and showcases the unique improvisational art of Lukas Oravec. Material for the album assembled and recorded very quickly. The album was recorded in Budapest in August last year, in only two days, and the resulting quality clearly documents the professionalism of all the band members including saxophonist host Radovan Tariška. The CD includes eight original songs and compositions, but you will also find two songs they arranged by the jazz greats- Dear John by Freddie Hubbard and Moon Alley by Tom Harrell. The album was arranged by Radovan Tariška with pianist Lubos Sramek, recorded in Pavel Wlosok’s personal studio (mixing and mastering) with graphic design and cover art by Adda Adowicz.
