Visually appealing comedy drama about searching for meaning of one’s existence and accepting the eternally flowing time and aging body. Sorrentino locates the story of a senescent writer and journalist Jep into environmnet of “glittering” high class of Rome and criticizes contemporary society that is living in shallowness, sham and blindness. Image compositions, staggering angles and dreamy view transformations are pulling us inside sunny tempting Rome where we can see small human characters unveiling surrounded by spectacular world art masterpieces. Duality of life and art and searching for the real beauty are the key subjects of this film.
