Episode 7 – European New Wave (60’s of 20th Century)

37 years ago, a student of medicine Ľudmila Cervanová, colonel Cervan’s daughter was murdered. From 1976, frenetic investigation started, personally involving president Gustáv Husák, tens of hearings, blackmailing, manipulation, fake confessions, classifications and massive propaganda. In ‘81, the courts sentenced seven young men. To 108 alltogether. Without any thrustworthy evidence or testimonies. The velvet revolution brought an opportunity for a new process. In 2004, the defendants were sentenced again, despite the evidences doubting their guilt.

Documentary tragedy about the right to justice is eight-year long detective voyage of Robert Kirchhoff into the depths of the case of kidnapping, rape and murder of young medicin student that is still not closed. Act of crime is means of depicting the mechanism of fear, absurdity and weird fate which lasts from the time of normalization until today.

We are screening the most successful Slovak documentary of this year in personal presence of the director.
