Her debut album „Tragedy“ was in 2011 ranked high on almost all relevant annual charts. Critics agreed: That is how intelligent pop should sounds like! Julia Holter thrives her song with spherical singing in the way which is leading to restlessness and charm at the same time. Arrangements (sometimes obviously, sometimes indirectly) refer to overtime heroes, such as Philipp Glass or Steve Reich. She improved her skills on prestigious school California Institute of the Arts in Los Angeles.

For colouring the songs, the young musician (born in 1984) often uses help of field recordings - sounds from everyday life and snatches of conversations are forming somehow veil of sound. With the second album „Ekstasis“ she drag form the sleeve the next conceptual work, in which she is mostly working with Greek mythology. From the mysterious pieces, with a natural ease, she is building the complicated sound experiments, served in an enjoyable package.

During the summer she is with a band on Us-Canadian-European tour and within it she will perform also in Slovakia. On August 19 her third album Loud City Song will be released on Domino Records.
