The Geordie Approach foto (c) Karina GytreThe Geordie Approach band is formed of Norwegian musicians Petter Frost Fadnes (alto saxophone, electronics), Ståle Birkeland (drums) and English guitarist Chris Sharkey. This uncompromising and experimental trio pursues music within loose improvisational structures, adding a surprisingly broad range of flavours to their overall sound world. Their creative ideas grow within a large and open musical ‘space’, and the trio has a reputation for adapting and utilizing their performance space in an extremely effective and engaging manner. In their untiring quest for brilliant and unusual musical destinations - Birkeland, Frost Fadnes and Sharkey produce musical elements that often are contradictory in shape, moving between melody and noise, ambient grooves and abstract textures.

Amy Knoles is virtuous player of classic and digital marimba, vibraphone, various drums and percussions, live MIDI electronics but she is also extraordinarly inventive composer, conductor and author of different artistic intermedial projects. For over twenty five years, she has been leading prominent, avantgarde chamber musical formation The California Ear Unit. Besides solo production and live acting in her own bands Squint, Basso Bongo, she also cooperated with Quincy Jones, Wadada Leo Smith, Fleo (RHCP) and she records and performs with Los Angeles Philharmonic New Music Group, Ensemble Modern of Frankfurt, Kronos Quartet, New York´s Bang on Can All Stars, the Paul Dresher Ensemble and others. Current concerts present her brand new creations.
