A visually stunning documentary essay, which explores the theme of darkness (and light being the result of its absence) from different points of view. The author lets astronomer be heard, who is sad from the absence of darkness, as well as electric power grid operator. She quotes from The Darkers’ diaries (a group of Czech youngsters, who, in 2002-2003, went down in history after having short-circuited some high voltage pylons illegally, causing general black-out), and finally goes through an experiment herself – she puts herself into a perfectly darkened room as part of “darkness therapy”. There is enough space for the spectator to think and reflect thanks to the use of time-framed picture shots at night, abstract areas of multicoloured darkness, and intuitive editting. Magical pictures are powered by experimental music by BBNU. The film was given a special credit at the Documentary Film Festival in Jihlava.
