Fairy Tell (Cz/Slo)
exhibition 8. - 30. 5. 2010
(Stanica_LAB)
Opening of exhibition which deals with stories, myths, legends and fairytales. All these have been with us everyday for ages. They have been orally transmitted from generation to generation, solidifying our awareness. The curators are trying to reveal their ancient significance – message, which has been gradually altered for children to understand whereas adults seem to have forgotten how to tell it, identify with it, and apply it to their own life experience. Curators as artists, Jitka Sedláková (CZ) and Lucija Smodiš (SLO) worked independently on this topic. The work is based on reinterpreting and commenting the meaning through video art. The tradition of story-telling is thus uninterrupted, and inevitable for individual experience. Exhibiting artists: Jitka Sedláková, Klára Žaludová, Veronika Vlková, Magdalena Bažantová, Radana Chocholoušová (CZ) and Lucija Smodiš (SLO). Exhibition lasts until the end of May. Here are the photos from the opening.
Accompanied by DJ Deus Ex Machina’s (CZ) dub-step set, and Kenya (JAP), playing the traditional Japanese instrument samisen (in Japanese – 三味線, it is a long-necked and three-stringed musical instrument played with a plectrum).
