Theatre Performance (Stanica_LAB)

“Well, you know what? What’s funny? When someone says wedding, what is it? What is that wedding?“ J. K.

A devised theatre performance, based on contemporaries‘ reflections on the topic of wedding. Young people of these days – wedding guests think about their attitude toward the past, wedding and relationships through their personal monologues. Quite unexpectedly, the guiding thread of performance is an authentic recording of team members‘ discussion, which started after they had participated in two traditional wedding ceremonies. Good quality artistic material thus emerged, addressing questions and problems, which are in youth evoked by wedding – past and present.

Scenic composition of wedding images is inspired by Slovak wedding folklore, wedding kitsch, contemporary wedding ritual, traditional, folk wedding with original customs, dances, songs, symbols.

Creative team is composed of students from various study fields: puppeteering, folk dance choreography, cultural studies, violin playing, intermedia studies, directing and dramaturgy.
