Here also doesn’t have to be your ad
discussion on the visual smog / Mobility week
Wednesday 17. 9. 2014, 6.00pm
Public space of Žilina is more and more crowded by numerous advertising banners, billboards and other forms of advertisements that enforces people’s attention. Architectural-historical heritage of the town ceases to be visible under the layers of information (not only of advertising nature) which came into the foreground.
Content of the advertisements is a funny part of the problem but its form, propoprtions, graphic style and placement is often damaging / obstacle to the product itself, the citizens and the space. To what extent is the Municipality and Monuments Board able to regulate the advertising? Where are the limits of placement of the advertising and information areas to preserve the town values and genius loci? Everybody needs advertising and the aim is to find out how the town should look like with it.
The discussion participants will be:
Ing. Jozef Oswald – head of Construction department of Žilina Municipality,
Ing. Miloš Dudáš, CSc. – director of Monuments Board of Žilina,
Ing. arch Lucia Streďanská – representative of Verejný_Smog (Public_Smog) initiative,
Ing. arch Pavol Paulíny, PhD. – Institute of History and Theory of Architecture and Monument Restoration
The discussion is organized by ciizens’ initiative Verejný smog.
