Stanica headhunting for EVS volunteer - technician

Stanica, train station transformed into cultural hub, is looking for someone between 18 and 30 who would be interested in 12-month European Voluntary Service. The project activities will be connected primarily to technical preparation of the events, assisting our handsome technicians / light designers (Ints & Daniel) and sound engineer (Andrej) setting up the gigs (concerts, theatre, dance shows, film projection). Other tasks of EVS volunteers in Stanica usually have something to do with event managment (selling/checking tickets, guest service, bartending). We try to support each volunteer in realizing a personal project (for example organizing small events, leading a regular workshops for children or adults, etc) - depends on individual interest or ability.foto: Natália ZajačikováThe project activities will start on 1 July 2014 and ends 30 June 2015. Pocket money, food, health insurance and travelling costs are covered by the project budget.

And where? In Slovakia. But it doesn’t really matter. You can spend a year with two other volunteers in fourth largest town of Slovakia without even giving a damn about the country around (which is by the way very beatiful) - because you will be so occupied by the work. And yes, it is true that there are periods when our volunteers work a bit more than 5 hours a day, 5 days a week because we have really full schedule of events. But there are other times when you can go for a trip, doing nothing and take time for yourself. This makes EVS project in our organization a great opportunity to gain massive amount of practical skills and priceless experience in an interesting place.

What we require from the volunteer is mainly true interest in working in a culture venue, helping to mediate contemporary art to Žilina audience. Basic technical skills (from the world of theatre technicians, electricity, etc) are warmly welcome but not obligatory. Personal interest and motivation are vital factors.

If you are the one who might fit, send your CV and motivation letter to dusan@stanica.sk. If you know someone who might be interested, please share this article. Thanks.
