Picastro (Can), Khôra (Can)
concert
Wednesday 30. 10. 2013, 20.00

PicastroPicastro (Can, Polyvinyl / Monotreme) from Toronto are worldly gaining the recognition for their reflectively beautiful and melancholical soundscapes, where cello is meeting the deep vocal of frontgirl Liz Hysen. The dynamic of the group, based on the sounds of strings, is similar to the music of Canadian band Godspeed You! Black Emperor, as well as The Dirty Three or Rachels. They were sharing the stage with Godspeed, Mick Turner (member of The Dirty Three), Smog, Elliot Smith, Cat Power, Herman Düne, Cerberus Shoal and Thee More Shallows.

Khôra (Can, Constellation Records) is an experimental music project of Matthew Ramol from Toronto, with aim to blur the lines that are separating organic and synthetic, improvisation and composition. The emphasis in Khôra’s music is divided between layered melodies, played on the acoustical and electronical devices, and experimenting with field recordings and analog/digital processing. Spread from moving moderation to warm density, the music raises the spirit of Eastern musical styles, contemporary classical music, avantgarde and spiritual minimalism, experimental rock and other forms of electronic music.
