Topic of the workshop: Interactive Video Mapping (working with mapping, light and sound)

Mapping of videoprojections is a relatively new projection technique, which can turn almost any surface into a dynamic display, that brings to a viewer an immersive experience. The basis of the workshop is exploration of „space and time“ through a new range of possibilities, that videomapping projections and classical theater technologies are bringing.

Individual blocks of workshop are focused on:
• hardware / software / video as a tool of mapping project
• conceptual plan of content of video mapping in real time and space
• creating of video mapping through animation, stop motion animation, illustration, with light and projection interactions on the scene, with design of the scene and with action camera

The aim of the workshop is to work on the new scenography and dramaturgy options and to develop the links between the traditional approaches and new emerging medias. Emphasis is on visual subject of projections and on various techniques. Workshop will end with a public presentation, where students will present their work in the interactive performance, to which we will try to include audience as a cooperating component.

Lecturer of the workshop is Italian animator, filmmaker, graphic designer, multimedia and visual artist Luca Pulvirenti. He was studying graphic design on Camberwell College of Art in London and animation in Bournemouth. He was working in famous animation studio Aardman. From 2005 he is teaching theory and film technique in Accademia di Belle Arti di Palermo and is participating in a large number of art projects. You can see his work on www.deepsheet.it/visual.
