Martin Piaček: Shame and Pride
exhibition March 6 - April 6, 2012, Plusmínusnula gallery

Martin Piaček: Cucflek

The main theme of Piaček’s separate exhibition is a personal identity in national and historical point of view. He, as an artist, looks critically on the consequences of being born in Slovakia, as a Slovak citizen. He has to deal with his genetic and national connection to slovak identity - this identity becomes a source of curiosity and a theme for personal research. Piaček considers the distrust to our official history, that slowly became a simplified myth of otherwise complex events, as a main inspiration for his works. He has a special interest in critical places and dates of “own” national history.

Martin Piaček (1972) studied College of Fine Arts (VŠVU) in prof. Bartusz’s and prof. Jankovič’s studio.

The Plusmínusnula gallery can be found in Žilina at Mydlarska st. no. 1, it is opened Tuesday - Friday, 3pm - 6pm. Admission free.

The opening was part of second edition of interdisciplinary conference PRIZMA together with a sample of slovak multimedia project Slovak national remix by Martina Slováková with special appearance by dj Viliam, a member of slovak pop music group PPE.
