Chinawoman (CAN), Nasládle sušienky
concert / Kofola Sessions
Wednesday, October 5, 2011, 8pm, S2

ChinawomanChinawoman’s songs „manoeuvre between grandiose retro motifs and a surprising sincerity“ (music.com.ua, May 2010) - are tragicomic, melody-driven, sentimental and exist suspended in a shadowy glamour.

Chinawoman is the brainchild of Michelle who grew up in the Russian quarter of Toronto as the daughter of a Kirov ballerina and an engineer from Leningrad. She owes her enormous success in the land of her forefathers to the release of her first album Party Girl (2007). Her new album Show Me The Face was released this year and it clearly shows the core of her music: classical European balladry -decadent, dramatic and earnest.

For fans of Nico, Leonard Cohen, Devotchka & Marc Almond.

Concert at Stanica is a part of Seeking Russian Bride Tour 2011 and it’s first Slovak show of Chinawoman ever.

Nasládle sušienky (Sentimental cookies) is a fresh ukulele duo, that doesn’t take itself too seriously according to Pip Chodorov, a filmaker from New York. The duo consists of pseudonyms of a colourful girl aka ‘Kiwi’ and a sensitive boy called ‘Steve Genitals’. Their music style can be described as gastro-anti folk with a tincture of pink punk.
