Damijan Kracina & Vladimir Leben (Slo): Galapagos
exhibition 8. 12. 2007 - 10. 1. 2008
Exhibition of a sculpture-painting project by two Slovene artists (Stanica_CLASS)
Curator: Jadranka Ljubičič, cooperation: Jani Pirnat, Tomaž Furlan
The Galapagos project-exhibition by Slovene artists Damijan Kracina and Vladimir Leben relates to Darwin and added new dimensions od the evolution of the animal species, their possible adaptations, which frequently seem to be rather bizarre. This is evident in a certain grotesque character of the animal world created by the artists, who have used their vision - which does not end with homo sapiens. Galapagos is a multi-media project, a complete work of art presenting an invented world. In the world to come, in which the inhospitable environment will leave no room for the human species, evolution will give free reign to the development of sophisticated animal species. Damijan Kracina and Vladimir Leben have changed the gallery space into a zoo, and they endeavour in an unassertive and humorous way to make the visitor aware of the fact that the world is endangered.
