This year’s children’s symposium doesn’t have any exact name yet. We decided to let the participants baptize it. Anyway it will be approached in the spirit of animation and illustration and it will certainly be sexy (in the brightest word sense.-). Alica Gurinová (alicagurinova.sk) and Erik Bartoš (erikbartos.com) , connected by the Sexi Světla project, will meet in the role of lecturers. They will present treacherous animation, VJ-ing and other stuff related to this, to participants during five days.

In the beginning they will look into a history, technical and technological methods. They will browse the most important works, which every beggining animator should know. And also they will look into which methods are most commonly used in the contemporary animated film and VJ-ing. They will learn to work with time and movement based on funny abbrevations. As an introduction of each day they will watch a few animated films, gifs and interesting videos as an inspiration. The practical part will consist of creating a short subjective animation based on a chosen topic. The goal of the workshop is to understand more than just the basic principles of animation and to compare all the different methods - be it those of good or those of bad quality. And also to draw, cut, flash, move/intersect layers across each other and still have enough time for dance :) The achievement of the workshop will consist in each participant creating their own short animation, understanding the basic principles of animation and becoming familiar with the many distinct approaches to creating. Workshop’s last day will comprise presentations of animations created during the whole week.

It will be very helpful if all the partincipants bring their own equipment - a laptop or a tablet for drawing (but it is not a condition of a participation). We will also need some drawing tools (you can have your own, but we have enough at Stanica) and a lot of patience (which we do have but if you possess some of your own that would be good too). Drawing skills are not necessary at all!

The workshop starts the first day of summer vacations, Monday 30. 6. and lasts till Friday 4. 7. 2014, every day from 1.00pm to 6.00pm. Workshop fee is 10.00 € / 1 day, that means 50.00 € / 5 days, afternoon snacks and drinks are included in the price.
Workshop is suitable for children from 8 years.
