Austrian choreographer Helene Weinzierl founded cieLaroque / Helene Weinzierl in 1995 after ten years of dancing. The company was awarded by several prizes and is one of the most productive groups of the Austrian dance scene. Some of the productions combine dance and theatre, others use only pure and intense and motional language. Currently, their work can be labeled as interdisciplinary, together with video production. Most of them are focused on grave social-political topics.

Strange Fish (David Hinton)

Film adaptation of a performance by DV8 Physical Theatre in collaboration with director David Hinton and choreographer Lloyd Newson. Strange Fish is performance and film about natural human need of love, searching for somebody to love and to believe in. This piece filled with powerful images and pure symbols is a mixture of bitter humour, religious iconography and physicality typical for creations of DV8 Physical Theatre after which European dance made a step to the new period of physical theatre.

British director David Hinton is one of the most respected directors in the field of dance for camera – a specific genre on the border of experimental film in which the motion (dance) is adapter directly to camera. He has been working with the most famous companies of the contemporary dance - DV8 Physical Theatre, Siobhan Davies, Wendy Houston or Russell Maliphant. He and his films were awarded by several prizes, i.e. Prix Italia for Strange Fish (1994) or Grand Prix of Cinedans festival for title Nora (2010).
