We invite everyone to spent a nice afternoon in the park, with the food. As Nataša Prelog, our Slovenian volunteer and vegan sundays´ organizer writes: „Tieš u june vas pozivame na oblubeni veganski piknik, ktori bude bit ešte raz v parku.” We declare a competition of best vegan goulash making, which is this Sunday going to be dedicated to. The author of winning recipe/dish will be awarded. Enjoy a neat afternoon with various kinds of goulash, salades and pies.

The event is a part of Open gardens weekend, which gives people the opportunity to get to know favourite places of garden art in Slovakia and Czech republic, and to take a look to inaccessible parks and gardens. The thought of Weekend of open parks and gardens formed in London in 1998 and is organized in Slovakia since 2007 by National Trust.

Not many of us recall, that once there were cherry trees and fruit garden near Stanica Žilina-Záriečie, owned by a family who lived here, and was famous throughout the whole world. Everything was ruined by Rondel, byt it´s also a kind of enviroment, where park would be able to live. Therefore thousands of hours of volunteer work, sponsorship, hundred trucks of dirt and cooperation with (garden) architects allowed the place, where citizens only used to throw out washing machines and fridges to, to go green again. Today, the park serves mainly to audience and Stanica visitors, but it´s also open for neighbors, travellers, or people with dogs, during the whole year. The legal graffiti zone offers place for painting, petang and children playground a place for playing, in the summer, the park even serves as a camp for summer festivals. An alternative building, the S2 theatre made of 3000 beer boxes and straw packs, is also an important part of the place. And every year, there´s something new built-up there. The only one green spot, which emerged in Žilina during last couple od decades is still developing. And that´s the best about it.
