theatre performance
Friday, Januray 20, 2012, 7pm

projekt.svadbaFinal performance of a theatre staging projekt.svadba (project.wedding) of young and talented slovak directors Mariana Ďurčeková, and Ján Luterán. One of the most succesful projects of Stanica, which earned the Grand prix prize on New drama 2010 festival.

Project.wedding focuses on todays current topic, wedding phenomena, and it´s importance in people´s lives. Todays youngsters – wedding cortege – reflect their attitudes to the past, wedding, and relationships through their personal monologues. Does this ritual have any social value in these days? Does it make a difference in lives of man and woman, and their relationship? Does it bring the same responsibility as in the past? Are the circumstances, weddings are being held in, same today, as yesterday?

The conversation, which outbursted amongst the creative team members, became the main theme for this staging. It happened after witnessing the usual, and traditional weddings in villages of Kriváň and Zámutov. An authentic material was created, which reflects all kinds of current questions and issues, that wedding invokes in young one´s mind.

Inspirations for scenic composition of wedding images came from slovak music folklore, wedding kitsch, recent wedding rites, also traditional weddings, folksy ones, with idiomatic conventions, habits, dances, songs, and symbols. The actors, when rehearsing, were inspired by actor training Viewpoints, by american theatre director Anne Bogart.
