Kinobus 2011: Western line
(not only) film festival
Friday – Sunday, September 2-4, 2011

Kinobus 2011Itinerary: Žilina – Podskalie – Pružina – Lednické Rovne – Lednica
Topic: Cinema

The eight edition of festival, which is a bit uncommon and not only about film. This time we’ll be dealing with cinemas, projectors, projectionists and film distribution – the topic of an adventurous journey in September is CINEMA. For the first time, it will be TWO buses with spectators setting off to Strážovské and Vršatecké mountains.

Kinobus 2011: Západná linkaThe topic of Cinema has an existential feeling to it. So far, Kinobus has visited, and at other times, reconstructed, for example, Kino Osveta, Kino Pokrok, Kino Hviezda, Kino Bystřice, Kino Javorník, Kino Tecza, Kino Centrum, Kino SNP, Kino Kultúra, Kino Gader and many many other. This year we’ll come and see Kino Slovan and Kino Crystal. Apart from classical 35mm cinema, we’ll try to revitalize projectors in an open-air cinema and 16mm cinema. We can’t promise 8mm screening yet we’re trying to manage.

Within the program, we’re planning to show, for example, The history of film in Popielawy (J. J. Kolski), Kino im Kopf (M. Glawogger), Muž s kinoaparátom (D. Vertov), Muž z bulváru Kapucínov, Trhák (Z. Podskalský), Pouta (R. Špaček) and Kino Caravan (T. Muntean). Also to be seen – three Czechoslovak short films called Kino (V. Kubal, J. Pinkava a A. Špaljová), or a real gem, Latvian short film called Ten minutes older. There are also local rarities on the list – documentary about launching the first shopping centre in Pružina, or the first short film Kidnap (1910) from Lednické Rovne. Needless to say, off-program events are as important as the main program, and they will concern cinemafication, praxiscope production, 8, 16 and 35mm projectors screening workshop and hundreds of other things.

As a surprise, we offer an alternative journey – KinoPedal. If you prefer your own green way of transport – by bike – to bus, we’ll be happy. For those of you taking a green ride – guide, prior showers and ticket discount provided! Hail to Cinema and Bike!

Start: Friday, September 2 at 2pm., bus departures at 4pm at Stanica Žilina-Záriečie
