Project „Unpredictable Standards“ by Slovak-Austrian group was born out not so original idea at first: to remix in real time several pop songs, melodies or jazz standards. By means of focused collective work, this initial material is often turned into something different, unrecognizable: the most essential thing is not the formal recognition, but assocations which emerge from internal bonds between songs or melodies, being unpredictable and surprising for all the participants…

The idea of don@u.com was born in the fall 2002 when Daniel Matej and Martin Siewert met for the first time at Musikprotokoll ’02 in Graz, playing on the same evening and stage with their own bands TRAPIST and VAPORI del CUORE. Sharing similar aesthetic concepts and approaches to improvisation they decided to form an occasional band “open to musicians united by the river Danube and – most of all – by common ideas”. The band then got its name in 2004, at the occasion of its first public performance. Except the musicians of tonight’s concert the ensemble collaborated with drummer/composer Martin Brandlmayr and guitarist Christian Fennesz, who appear on the CD Lieder ohne Worte released in 2007 by AtraktArt. At the occasion of tonigh’s concert Martin Siewert was replaced by Fabian Pollack.
