Blur Minds, Clear Sights
Lucia Tallová, Jakub Reken
exhibition March 1 - April 2011
Exhibition Blur Minds, Clear Sights brings fresh paintings by young artists Lucia Tallová and Jakub Reken, both students of Ivan Csudai at the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Bratislava. Quite a lot of known names in the Slovak contemporary painting have come out from Csudai’s atelier and these are emerging stars too. With a different attitude to painting they both work with similar thoughts and ideas.
Lucia Tallová works in her series with a topic of city architecture, displaced in etheric dream about light, void diving in color. Dark and light compositions reflect the place of herself, her home and her feminine essence in her dreaming images. Lucia was Strabag Award winner in 2009.
Jakub Reken is in his painting more accented and sharped. His compositions are created from all the ideas and thoughts directly on the canvas. On the first look he works with graffiti technique, but the paintings are composed of little details discovered by concentrated viewer. The paintings are accompanied by video showing the process of their creation.
